Easter Egg Hunt Ideas

Posted on: October 1, 2011

Whether you are setting up a small Easter Egg Hunt just for your own children in your own back yard, or you are assisting your Church or Community Organization with a large egg hunt in a nearby field or wooded area, here are some creative Easter Egg Hunt Ideas to spice up the average hunt.

1. Create a map:

This would most likely be used only for larger hunts, and makes it easy to ensure all the eggs are found.

Create a map marking out trees, bushes, large rocks etc. This not only helps the kids find the eggs but also teaches them how to read a map.

Wow fun and education all in one! Don't tell your kids!

2. Lottery Egg Hunt:

This has been popular at both our home and community organized hunts.

Make sure half the eggs the kids are searching for are plastic and write down numbers or the name of a prize on a small piece of paper and put inside the plastic egg.

When he child finds the egg they exchange for the prize!

Might as well teach them about how a lottery works at a young age.

3. Secret Prize Eggs:

Like item #2, except you put the name of the prize inside the egg instead of a number.

4. Create a checklist:

Each child will be given a list with certain eggs spelled out and they have to find only those eggs. Example: Find 1 green egg, 2 blue eggs, etc.

The rest are for at home.

5. The string follow:

This is actually a lot of fun. After the kids go to sleep, hide thier baskets and tie a string to them, then walk through the home leading the string all around.

When the kids wake up in the morning, they follow the string to their baskets!

6. Leave a trail of small candy bars, candies, etc, like a bread crumb trail, leading to their baskets. They have a great time following the candy trail to their baskets.

We hope you like these Easter Egg Hunt Ideas.

Happy Easter!
